The myth of India - Pakistan hatred.
The souls of Indian freedom fighters would be bleeding by what we are witnessing even after 62 years of independence. They didn’t lay down their lives for this, if they had the foresight to see of what was to become of their beloved motherland. I am sure they would have decided we are
better-off in the hands of our colonial masters. At least the English pursued progressive policies even if they did it for their selfish aims. What’s the use of a dysfunctional democracy on both sides of the fence that has done nothing, but generated a breed of greedy, immoral and corrupt army of self-serving politicians and bureaucrats?
The politicians of both the countries have successfully ingrained a sense of insecurity and hatred amongst their countrymen for their own former brothers in arms. Only people who are benefitting from this senseless rhetoric are the American arms companies, well past expiry-date Communist China and the western media companies.
When will the people realise we are living in the most opportune time for universal brotherhood, the Berlin wall has collapsed more than decade ago and even the two warring Koreas are ready to smoke the peace pipe. Is it foolish on the part of Indians and Pakistanis to hope for a peaceful co-existence, economic and intellectual ties between the two South-Asian twins? Do we even realise today that we have lost billions of dollars, millions of promising individuals who could have contributed for the humanity alternatively. I would request today’s parents to please don’t teach your child hatred at this impressionable hearts as it scars the young mind irrevocably.
I have a suggestion that rather than spending on meaningless, so called CBM’s. Why don’t both the governments and the people setup an SEZ (Special Economic Zone)on their border region as a peace gesture this would solve the problem of border skirmishes and pave the way for stable and peaceful employment of the people inhabiting those regions. We are ignoring the things we share as a part of our culture and other similarities and tend to concentrate on the only thing that we differ on religion. Let me remind everyone that India has a large Muslim population and is only second to Indonesia as a country inhabited by largest number of Muslims. We respect the contributions and efforts they have been doing .Making our country proud by their achievements in various fields and we have never doubted their patriotism. I don’t understand why there isn’t a common anti-terror force that can effectively protect our neighbourhood from the scourge of terrorism.
Pakistan has failed to realise its potential because of Uncle Sam’s and China’s involvements in its internal affairs for their own selfish gains. For Pakistan to emerge as a strong and independent nation it needs India’s co-operation and as all of us know our mutual trade through illegal channels is worth billions just imagine the potential for trade through the legal means. Together we can realise our dreams and potential by being economic partners if not as brothers. Amen!!!
